Business Writing Workshop

This one-day workshop is designed for business professionals who want to improve their writing skills and create high-quality business documents, but who are not full-time writers.

The emphasis is on fast practical learning. You learn the golden rules of business writing, you work on specially-prepared exercises, and you come away with guidelines for future use.

The workshop is tailored to meet your requirements, based on discussion with the consultant and analysis of your documents before the workshop.

Depending on your requirements, the workshop covers documents such as business letters, reports, procedures, plans and instructions.

The workshop takes a no-nonsense approach to writing business documents and clarifies the dos and don'ts. Upon completion of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Overcome writer's block
  • Identify your audience and purpose
  • Structure your document and organise your information
  • Write direct and concise English
  • Choose the right words
  • Create sentences that flow

  • Avoid common errors in writing and formatting
  • Review draft documents and eliminate mistakes

There are also optional modules on topics such as writing effective email, writing for the web, creating longer documents, and creating page layouts.

To reinforce what you learn, there are a number of specially-prepared exercises, often using extracts from your own documents.

A comprehensive manual is provided for each attendee, plus a quick reference card which summarises the writing guidelines for your future use.
